How long until I can use my new epoxy floor?
Your epoxy garage floor coating will need to cure completely before you can walk and drive on it. Lightfoot traffic is acceptable after 24 hours, but it should still be limited for the first two days. Do not drive on your new floor for the first 5 days to allow the epoxy to cure. After 5 days, the topcoats will be fully cured, and you can drive and park on your new epoxy garage floor without damaging the surface.

How is the surfaced prepared?
Surface preparation of your concrete floor is the single greatest factor that determines the success and appearance of your new epoxy floor. Without good preparation, the epoxy will not adhere correctly and will pull away from the concrete or fail prematurely. Our epoxy garage floor installers always take the necessary steps to prep the surface for superior results.
Preparing your concrete floor includes:
  • Lifting stains. Epoxy won’t bind with oil and gas stains on the concrete, which requires treatment with a degreaser.
  • Filling cracks. This ensures a smooth final surface.
  • Sweeping and removing debris. This allows the epoxy to bond with the concrete.
  • Correcting damage. If your concrete is damaged, it will need to be corrected. This may include low areas or crumbling spots.
  • Diamond grinding. Diamond grinding corrects irregularities like pits, removes contaminants, and opens pores to help the epoxy bond with the concrete.

How long will a garage epoxy floor last?
DIY epoxy kits rarely last more than a couple of years, but you will get much better results with professional installation. This is why it’s important to choose skilled garage floor epoxy contractors to install your new epoxy garage floor coating.

The lifespan of garage floor epoxy depends on the quality of the epoxy, the experience of the installers, and how well it’s maintained. Professionally installed, quality epoxy will last for a minimum of 10 years and can last up to 20 years with proper maintenance.
